On March 28th a triathlete from Black Country Tri Club was participating in an organised 3-up TT in Worcester. During this he was hit by a car and died of his injuries. I understand advice is now being given that flashing red lights be put on the back of your bikes. I will be using one in TT's on open roads from now on and would encourage others to do the same, a tiny light will not affect your times to any degree.

Hi Elsie

You are right about advice being given about using a flashing red light in time trials. When I rode the Crewe Hilly 17 TT on Sunday the organisers included this in the list of instructions they sent out. They advised riders to have a rear light during the event to prevent this from happening.

That is the first time I have seen that mentioned on a start sheet.

It can never be 100% safe but it's a case of being safe as much as you can.
